Hey guys! Welcome back once again to TGWAM! I’m so excited to write for y’all again. Have you ever heard the phrase “Sold out for Christ”? That’s kind of what I’m writing about today. There’s this song by Hawk Nelson and it’s called “Sold Out”. Today’s blog post is gonna be a little bit different, so the flow may be a little bit strange, but just hang in here with me XD. I’m gonna go through some of my favorite lyrics of the song and tell y’all what I got out of them. Here we go…
“In a world full of followers, I’ll be a leader”
These are the lyrics to the beginning of the pre-chorus. I think that’s something we should all do. In our world today there are so many trends. The way you’re supposed to dress, what you’re supposed to eat, how you’re body is supposed to look, etc. It’s insane. Almost everyone is a follower. Yes, we’re supposed to follow Christ, and that’s what this song is about, but we’re not supposed to follow man. Genesis 1:27 says, “You were made in My image.” God’s image is perfect. We aren’t supposed to modify our bodies because the world says so. We aren’t supposed to dress a certain way just because the world says so. We’re supposed to stand out. We’re supposed to be different. No matter what the world thinks we’re supposed to be different. We’re supposed to be leaders in a world filled with followers.
“In a world full of doubters, I’ll be a believer”
These lyrics could not be a bigger challenge. Our world is FILLED TO THE BRIM with doubt and negativity. Turn on the news. I bet there’ll be something about another terrorist attack, the latest celebrity gossip, or just something completely insane and unbelievable. The world wasn’t made to be like this. It was meant to be perfect. Without pain, suffering, dying, sickness, the list goes on and on. All of this doubt, pain, etc. makes people tend to back away from Christianity. They ask themselves and sometimes even others, “Why would a LOVING GOD harm me if He really LOVES ME?” And I think we as Christians sometimes have that same doubt, but we have to believe that everything is a part of his plan. Not everything is going to go our way and sometimes things come along that really hurt us. We have to remember though, that the things that hurt us and put us in our weakest state are the things that allow God’s power to shine through the most. “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” -2 Corinthians 12:9 So, in this world filled with doubters, we need to believe in God’s power.
“No trials coming against me could put a dent in my passion”
These lyrics are my absolute favorite. I think from a missionary point of view this hits a little more close to home. Going to Africa, Asia, Europe, even somewhere else in the United States other than the Bible Belt, anyone trying to spread God’s word is putting themselves in the danger of interrogation. But these lyrics state the most true thing that I’ve ever heard. There is NOTHING that will dent my passion for missions. I’ve fallen head over heels in love with it and I haven’t even gotten started. I can’t wait until I get to go on my first “real” mission trip. I have a feeling it’s going to change my life forever. Which is crazy to think about because God has already done that, amen?? My first “real” mission trip may also close the door to missions. Who knows? Whatever the outcome may be I know it’s a part of God’s plan, and I’m prepared to handle anything that comes my way.
Thank you once again for reading our weekly posts! It means more to us than you can imagine! I hope you all enjoyed it!
