His Power is PERFECT- Lace

Hey guys! Happy Tuesday 🙂 I hope all of you have had a fabulous day already ❤ Today, I’m gonna do something kinda similar to last week’s post, but instead of touching on different lines of a song, I’m gonna focus on TEN words. I know you’re probably thinking, “How are you gonna write an ENTIRE blog post on ten words, Lacey?” I can do it. I promise. :’D Okay, so in the song “Touch The Sky” by Hillsong (which I encourage you to go listen to after you read this post because it’s an amazing song, but anyway, not the point :’D) during the chorus it says, “I touch the sky when my knees hit the ground”. Those ten words are probably the most true words I’ve heard in my life. When we are closest to God, when we “touch the sky”, that’s when we are at our absolute weakest. When our “knees hit the ground” in submission to the Spirit, that’s when we’re the strongest in our faith, I feel. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 12:9, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

Personally, when I fall to my weakest point, I tend to focus on myself and get into my own head instead of crying out to the One who holds it ALL. I tend to get stressed out and worked up about things and a lot of the time I don’t pray about those things. I just get bogged down in my own thoughts. I think it’s easier for us to go to God when everything is going great and wonderful. You know, when everything is going “our way” and when everything is “easy”. But all the sudden when things go bad we tend to shut God out and go to other sources for that healing. Maybe for you it’s an addiction, for others it may be just shutting down and hoping everything will get better on it’s own just magically, or whatever you may do when things don’t go the way we want it to. I tend to just shut down and hope everything will magically fix itself even when I know good and well that that won’t happen. We try to fix everything ourselves and that won’t happen.

The Bible says in weakness that’s when God’s power works the best. That’s hard for me to remember because when I hit a weak spot in my life, I’m so stubborn, that I want to fix it myself and I don’t want to let it go. I want to be able to fix it on my own because I’m an independent person and I don’t like to have to feel dependent. As I have started to learn though, when we give it all to God then our lives start to become stress free. God is in control and when we actually let Him be in control in our lives everything starts to become a little more simple. Also, your outlook on life becomes more positive because you know, without a doubt, that God has everything handled and you don’t have to worry about it. When you give God everything that you’re struggling with then you can focus more on His glory and praising Him, rather than focusing on all of the negative things that are stressful or hard to think about for you. When our “knees hit the ground” in submission to Christ, we can focus on the important things in life. Loving others and telling the world about Jesus.

That reminds me of another thing. When we get stressed out or worked up about something we tend to treat other people differently whether we realize it or not. I know when I get that way I tend to shut off my family and friends and keep to myself. I don’t really want anyone to talk to me and I just want to think about the situation and how I can fix it. Not how God can fix it. I’m starting to become better at going to God with these types of things, but this is just a struggle for me that I have to work through. And, I know for some people it’s easier for them to go to God when things aren’t going so great because it’s easy for us to point out the bad things in life and go to God for help in those situations. And then when the good times come around we tend to get caught up in ourselves and forget God even exists. For me, it’s easier to go to God in those times, but that’s just my personality. I don’t like having to be dependent on others.

Anyway, I kind of got off track, but I hope you enjoyed this post. 🙂 Remember, when we are closest to God, it’s when we submit to Him and when we’re at our weakest. Thank you once again for reading what I have to say every Tuesday! Can’t wait to see what 2017 has in store for me, Bryanna, the blog, and much, much more. I love you all! ❤

P.S. (Don’t forget to go check out “Touch The Sky” by Hillsong! It has a really great message! 😉 I hope you fall in love with them, just as I did!)
