Small Group Of One-Lace

Hey guys! Welcome back to TGWAM. Thank you for coming back once again to read our weekly posts. I know most of us do a regular devotion either when we wake up or right before we go to bed, right? But… Sometimes we either “forget” or we’re “too busy” or we’re “too tired”. I know that I tend to use these excuses A LOT. A lot of you, myself included, are probably a part of a small group or two. On Sundays at 5 o’clock S.S.I.C. (Sassy Sisters in Christ), a small group led by my mom, meets and we do a devotion each week. Also, on Wednesdays the “Daughters of the King” meet right before our fellowship meal every week to have a devotion as well. These groups are full of amazing, godly girls and I wouldn’t want to be a part of any other group, but sometimes we tend to use these small groups as an excuse to abandon our own. Our “small group of one” is more important than we know.

Having a quiet time by yourself is more beneficial to our faith than we give it credit for. I’m not saying that small groups are a bad thing, but we shouldn’t use them as an excuse either to not do our own private devotion. One of the most important things we’re supposed to do as Christians is to build a relationship with God. We can’t build a relationship with God if we don’t go to Him alone. We can build a relationship with God if we only go to church on Sundays and  Wednesdays, but if you’re like me you aren’t very open to share your thoughts and ask questions in Sunday School/small groups, so you just tend to forget what you were thinking and blow it off and never remember what you thought. If you have a “small group of one” then you can ponder on questions and thoughts as long as you need.

Jesus, the Savior of the world, even went off by Himself to pray. Luke 5:16 says, “But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.” This proves that we need to spend time with God alone. Even Jesus needed to spend time with God by Himself. I think it’s so important to have a quiet time even when you’re “too tired”, “too busy”, etc. God is more important than anything. With God you can get through the day and be a more positive person. I’m not saying that small groups, going to church, etc. are bad things and you shouldn’t be a part of them. Those things are really important also, but a “small group of one” is equally important. It doesn’t need to be something we put on the back burner. It needs to be one of our number one priorities.

Anyway, thank you so much for reading this week’s blog post! It means a lot! I can’t believe tomorrow starts the second month of 2017. This year has already flown by. I can’t wait to see what the rest of 2017 has in store for us. Strive to have a quiet time by yourself everyday and pray no matter what the situation. Whether you can’t find that shirt that you wanted to wear today, or it’s something more serious, always pray about everything. “Don’t worry about anything; instead pray about everything.” -Philippians 4:6 Thank you again for coming back to TGWAM today and I hope to see all of you back Thursday when Bryanna uploads her weekly post! I hope you all have a fabulous day ❤

XOXO,

Lace ❤
