Hello everyone! Happy Tuesday AND Happy Valentine’s Day! I’ve never really loved Valentine’s Day, but I think I’ve come up with another way to look at it. You know, we have friends that we love that have left us, some of you may have had boyfriends or girlfriends that you thought you could never live without that left you and when Valentine’s Day, the day to celebrate love comes around, you feel empty and lost. I don’t think any of us ever think about the One that has always and will always love us on days when we feel like no one does. God. God is ALWAYS there and He has and will always love us.
Romans 5:8 says, “You are loved more than you will ever know by someone who died to know you.” This verse says so much. We are loved more than we can even fathom by someone (someone being Jesus, obviously) who died for us so He could get to live with us for eternity. How amazing is that? I think it’s pretty wonderful. A lot of the time we think that “no one understands”, or “no one cares”, but if we’re a follower of Christ, we ALWAYS have someone who understands and someone who cares. Jesus understands everything that we go through. He loves us and always will care about whatever we’re struggling with.
Whenever we feel lonely we have to remember that God is always with us and is always there to talk to when we feel like we don’t have anyone to talk to. Ephesians 2:19-22 says, “19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens,[a] but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. 22 In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by[b] the Spirit.” This verse is saying that we are a child of God and that we have a place in heaven when we follow Him. We are loved by Him and following Him is simple. All we have to do admit that we’re a sinner, believe that He is Lord our God, and confess all of our sins to Him. After we do that it’s our job to show the world who Jesus Christ is and strive to be like Him everyday.
That’s the whole point of missions. The point of missions is to show the world God’s love and hopefully lead them into making the decision to follow Christ. All Christians are called to be missionaries. I know you’re probably thinking, “Woah now… Do you know what you’re talking about Lacey? I am NOT gonna go to Africa, or Haiti or wherever… You do you, but that just isn’t me…” I understand that. I understand that some people aren’t led to go to foreign countries to spread the Word of God. If everyone was called to do that, then who would be here in the US to spread the gospel? I think a lot of us think that everyone around here is Christian. They aren’t. People that go to my very school make decisions to follow Christ every year at Disciple Now. That proves that people that sit next to you every single day may not be a Christian. It’s important to share the word here in the United States AND around the world.
People that go to school with you, that go to work with you, maybe even people that live in the same house as you need to hear the word of God because if they don’t they won’t be able to know that it’s truly okay when things go bad or who/what to put their trust in when life gets tough. Sharing the gospel is our mission as Christians and if we don’t do it then who will? Thank you for reading what I had to say today! Don’t forget that God always loves you and cares for you even when you feel like no one does. Please be praying for AFBC as our sanctuary and youth building are being renovated for the next several weeks. Thank you once again for what you mean to me and Bryanna and your support as we write weekly for TGWAM! I hope you have a great day! Happy Valentine’s Day! ❤
